Image Archive = Abusive Review/BBS Rulebook Guide

Posted by Zombicidle - December 5th, 2010

This image archive, with rigorous amounts of hard work and effort put into it, can be considered as a huge BBS/abusive review guide, although that is not the purpose of the archive. However since abusive reviews comprise of a fair amount of the image archive and there are over 4,000 images that contain at least 1 abusive review in it, a large section of the archive will be an abusive review guide. There WILL be questions from users that ask about abusive reviews and why something is abusive and something isn't.

To ensure maximum accuracy of the data presented to users, if you do not know the answer to a question a user asked, do NOT reply to it. It is better to stay quiet than to give out mis-information. If you're not sure if you know the answer but have SOME idea as to why it is abusive, do not reply to the comment. If you are 100% confident you know the answer, reply to the comment. Sign your name as usual when you're done with the comment. If you see some image mod who left a completely wrong answer to a comment, you are allowed to delete the incorrect answer (this is one exception to deleting someone's reply to a comment) and replace it with the correct answer. If an image mod left an answer that you are not sure is correct, leave the answer there and add in your own answer.

If you have found an abusive review lying around on Newgrounds, you are expected to capture it into a screenshot and post it on the image archive. Upon posting it you are expected to pinpoint the review (like the username of the user who wrote the review unless you cropped out the review only) and write an explanation why it is abusive under the "Description" section of each image post. Do NOT post a screenshot of a review you mis-flagged or a review you flagged that you are not sure if it's abusive or not. Only post blatant (obvious) abusive reviews. If you come across in a news post an incorrect explanation of why a review is abusive, you are allowed to edit it. Upon editing, you're expected to also write your name under the "Posted by:" field with the other image mod who posted the review on the news post. DO NOT CENSOR OUT THE USER NAME OF THE ABUSIVE REVIEW IN THE IMAGE. While the image archive does not attempt to call out certain user(s) and laugh at them for their reviews, almost all of the already-captured images do not have the user name of the abusive review censored and we would like to keep it consistent with that standard.

Similarly, there have been spam threads and abusive posts that have been captured into images before the offending thread/post was deleted. The same concept applies to abusive reviews (listed above).

This image archive, with some accidental planning, is designed to explain abusive reviews and flagging and BBS abuse so well that no guide on Newgrounds, including the Newgrounds PDF Guide, could explain it better than the image archive can. It is designed so that someone who knows absolutely NOTHING about flagging can go through all the news posts and walk out of the image archive knowing what is abusive and what isn't like those so-called "review gurus" out there on NG. While this whole idea of the image archive being an abusive review guide was purely coincidental and unintentional, it's best to keep it as it currently is.
