Image Moderator Benefits

Posted by Zombicidle - December 5th, 2010

You may be thinking "Ugh why do I have to do this if I get nothing out of it" (if you're saying that you're not ready for the job then) while moderating the image archive, but being an image moderator actually has a lot of benefits that you may not realize.

- Increased chances of being a real full-fledged Newgrounds moderator

Believe it or not being an image mod can increase your chances of being a Newgrounds Moderator. Being an image mod is just like being a real NG mod except the moderation is at a larger and more rigorous scale for a NG mod. The remaining benefits derive from this idea:

- Shows that you are responsible

By managing an account and a huge archive you prove to yourself and other people that you are responsible, and if someone gives you their account (be it for depositing or moderating their user page or whatever) they will know that you will use it as directed and return it to them.

- Shows that you are trust-worthy

You have a 2007 account, which (except for Basset) is an account 2 years older than your main accounts, and yet you manage it without doing stupid nonsense with it.

- Shows that you can manage power and use it as directed

You have an entire archive under your power. By moderating it and following the rules you show that you can manage power when given and not abuse it to cause mayhem (trouble).

- Shows teamwork capabilities

Being a Newgrounds moderator requires the ability to work together with other mods as a team to conquer an objective. Being an image mod proves that statement.

- Shows that you do not show superiority over normal users

This one only applies if you do not show off or flaunt your power to other users. Try to stay as humble as possible. Also do not break the user commenting rules or any other rules that applies to users because you're an image mod.

- Shows that you follow the rules

I have written a lot of rules for you image mods, and if you follow them all then this guideline is all set. This is probably the hardest part but is also the most important.

- Shows dedication and hard working skills

Being a mod of something is not an easy job - believe me. There will be lazy times and working-your-ass-off times as well. But by working dilligently and contributing it shows that you are capable of handing massive workloads and show dedication to a project/task.

- ...and many more benefits that didn't come to my mind. (You may be able to use these benefits for IRL things as well)

Remember, you must be active on being an image moderator and must follow the rules. That doesn't mean you have to spend every second you are on NG watching over the image archive, but you can't be lazy and claim those benefits while not doing anything. You also shouldn't make normal users inferior to yourself. Being an image moderator is very similar to being a Newgrounds moderator except being an NG mod requires a very demanding workload and is more rigorous, while being an image mod is quite calm and slow (in comparison that is). The experience is almost the same nevertheless. So while being an image mod may present an unnecessary burden, it has its own benefits.

So be proud you have power over the image archive. The image archive has the potential to go pretty far and get a lot of recognition, and everybody involved in it will also get recognition as well (since I won't be doing much moderating it's you mods who will get the recognition, not me).
